Why Burkina Faso?

The link of friendship between Godalming and Burkina Faso began when Father Paul Nazotin came to the parish of St Edmund's in Godalming in September 2002. Then, in February 2005, the founder of Les Amis, Gillie Nicholls, went to visit Father Paul in Burkina Faso to establish a link between a school there and the school in Surrey where she was the chaplain at the time. It went on from there after she discovered many other areas of need described here in this website. Gillie makes regular visits to Burkina Faso in order to visit our various projects. However, for some years Burkina Faso has been beset with problems of terrorism, making it dangerous for Europeans to visit Burkina Faso.
